The WESS P&C has decided to postpone our Colour Fun Run scheduled for April 2.
While disappointing for our kids and community, it is in the best interest of the broader community that we delay this kind of event. We look forward to rescheduling the event to a better time later in the year.
Luckily, the WESS P&C has some emergency funds that can be released to ensure that the fabulous Nature Playground is built over the Easter break. When the kids get back to school there’ll be an exciting new space for them to explore.
In the meantime, families are welcome to continue fundraising to support the Nature Playground. The online donations platform will remain LIVE, closing only when our event finally takes place. All funds raised via the platform are transferred fortnightly into the WESS P&C bank account. Here’s the link:
Thank you to the grownups who had already signed up to volunteer; that SignUp will now be closed and you should be notified as such by email. We will re-open it once we have a new Colour Fun Run date.
We will continue to source amazing prizes for the highest individual fundraisers, so keep an eye out for more news. The list of prizes includes an iPad, scooter, and loads of active play equipment like balls, hula hoops, skipping ropes, as well as tasty treats from Mick’s Nuts.
The highest fundraising class will win a Pizza+popcorn+pretzels+poppers Party.
This Coronavirus has delayed our fun event, but it needn’t affect our big fundraising effort of 2020 – keep those online donations coming in, WESS families, to support our kids playing outside in a safe and stimulating environment!
OSHC and Vacation Care
The service has delayed the release of the April Vacation Care program until early next week. Whilst we continue to monitor advice from Queensland Health, the Department of Early Childhood and Education Care and the Department of Education on the potential impacts to the operation of Outside School Hours Care at West End State School in the event of any school closures.
In the event that OSHC is required to close, parents will not be charged for any bookings during closure times. Fees paid in advance will be credited to parent’s OSHC account or nominated bank accounts upon re-open.
Oshc have implemented a precautionary plan in response to COVID-19 and parents can view this on the OSHC page
and after school lessons.
Also in the interest in keeping our community safe we will not be holding Swim Club meets for the rest of this term. Our reasons behind this decision are based on the social aspect of swim club and not the water. The WATER IS SAFE, it is being tested twice daily and the chlorine levels are at their optimum. So lessons will continue until the end of term but our socialising will be off.
After today our school banking program will be on hold until further notice.
Election day BBQ
Our famous democracy sausage sizzle will be taking a rest for this election but hopefully back for the state elections in October.
Thank you for your understanding and support whilst we adjust to a very dynamic environment. The next P&C meeting is the 12th May and we are currently looking at options to hold a virtual meeting on this date and will keep you advised.
